Why does calm4.ogg never play even if it is stored in the music folder?

Why does calm4.ogg never play even if it is stored in the music folder? - Young men in warm clothing playing electric guitar at party in small room decorated with blue garlands

In Minecraft, I am trying to get a removed track called Calm4 (calm4.ogg) to play in game since any music file under .minecraft/resources/music will play, and that is where I put the file. Because a track is randomly selected, I removed all other music in that folder and the newmusic folder just so that only Calm4 would play.

After loading a world, I am still hearing other tracks including those I have removed from the folders. Am I misunderstanding something, or will Calm4 never play in newer versions of the game?

Why is the music not working in Minecraft?

If you run into the no sound issue when you play Minecraft, try pressing F3 and S at the same time on your keyboard to force reload the game. If this key combination doesn't work, then try pressing F3 and T at the same time. Many players have resolved the MInecraft no sound issue by this fix.

How do you get Minecraft to play music all the time?

There is no way to make the music play all the time since the sound design of the game is created in such a way that music plays at certain events, whether it's combat, nightfall or a sunrise.

Why did Minecraft change the music?

As the official patch notes explain, it's just a new autosave indicator for single-player worlds and a few minor world generation changes. These features and the new music will hit the live game with the Minecraft 1.18 release date.

Why does Minecraft music play randomly?

If the player is not in the Nether and is currently in Creative mode, a random track plays (Creative only on Bedrock). If the player is not in Creative but is currently playing (i.e., not on the menu screen), a random general track plays.
