Are transfer Paks region locked?

Note: The GameBoy / GameBoy Color games were not region locked. Any N64 games that use the Transfer PAK to read Gameboy games could make their own determination of what Gameboy games they would support.

How do you get a Rumble Pak to work?

Unlike modern controllers, which typically have built-in rumble, the Rumble Pak is a separate device you have to plug in. You insert it into the expansion slot on the underside of the N64 controller. The Rumble Pak requires two AAA batteries to work (but you can mod it to make it battery-less).

Are controllers region locked?

Controllers are not restricted by region.

Are Japanese N64 controllers region free?

I can also confirm that I have now tried many (at least 50) Japanese controllers on PAL consoles and there is no difference. This includes using rumble packs and Pokemon transfer packs from PAL regions inside "Japanese" controllers and they all work the same.
