Why won't my netherportal light/work? [duplicate]

First, I built a Nether Core Reactor (using the core, gold blocks, and cobblestone) and that worked. Instantly, it turned into obsidian. It used to occasionally light up and it would shoot out items. I dug up the obsidian with a diamond pic axe (all of it). I then went into a grassland and created the 4x5 nether portal using the obsidian, but whenever I went to light the inner on fire using flint and steel it light the obsidian on actual fire instead of making the portal. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

At this point in time, you can't go to the Nether in Minecraft PE. Nether portals made from obsidian will not activate. However, development is still going on. They might be added later.

I'm not sure why your Nether Reactor wasn't working.

Why my nether portal is not working?

probably because your overworld portal and nether portal have the wrong cords, because for one block in the nether you go 8 in the overworld so look at your cords in the nether and line them up with the overworld cords of your overworld portal and it should work if you are playing java or bedrock.

Will two Nether portals lead to same place?

Overworld portals that are within 1024 blocks distance of each other on both X and Z axis are almost always going to link to the same Nether realm portal on initial construction, unless more precisely paired portals are built (see below).

Can you light a 3x3 nether portal?

Nether portals can have almost any size as long as the gate to walk through is at least two blocks wide and three blocks high. The frame needs to be made of obsidian blocks. After the frame is constructed, light any block in the middle with flint and steel or a fire charge to activate the portal.
