Second Monitor Lag

Second Monitor Lag - Students Talking in Library

I am having an issue with intermittent lag on my second monitor since I upgraded to Windows 10. I only notice it when I've launched a game though and it's not every time. I have all my windows updates, and I just installed the latest drivers for my Gigabyte GTX 770(released today). It's been so intermittent that I have no idea what's causing it. I thought it was xSplit, then I thought it was DirectX 11, but now I have no idea and I am looking for some guidance to narrow this down.

These are the facts. I've played games like GTA 5 while streaming with no problem as long as I use DirectX 10.1 and OBS, xsplit lags so I thought it was a problem with xsplit. I cannot change the DirectX in other games like Trove so I do not know what version they use, but I will experience lag on my second monitor and in-game when using xSplit, but if I switch to OBS it works fine, further evidence that the issue is with xSplit. Last night I downloaded a new game called Hacknet and this is the first time I have been able to reproduce this issue with consistency. I don't know what it is about Hacknet, but if I try to run it in full screen then I get like 1 FPS on my second monitor, game works fine, and my stream viewers do not report any issues, appears to just be on my side only. I have discovered that it doesn't matter if I'm streaming or not, this game will always lag my second monitor, but it's the same symptoms that I've been having since the windows 10 upgrade. that lead me to believe that it's a directx issue so I used steam launch options to force directx 10 and there is no change, still lags.

Here are my specs although I did not have any issues with Windows 8 so I do not believe specs are an issue. Intel 4790k 4.4GHz, Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD5H, 16GB 1866MHz DDR3, Gigabyte 4GB GTX 970

Thank you for any advice, I'm getting desperate, on the verge of downgrading back to 8.

Why does one of my monitors lag?

In most cases, mouse lag is due to there being a mismatch of the refresh rates between two different monitors. The second most common reason is due to the computer receiving and interpreting the signal from the mouse a little too slowly, normally a problem with the USB connection.

Why is my computer slower with two monitors?

The slowdown is caused by the fact that the computer needs to manage the images on two screens and not just the usual one. To get the best performance out of dual monitors make sure they are set up to use the same colour format and resolutions.
