I got to the highest level of trust of one of my companions. Now I'm curious if there are disadvantages to doing the same with a different companion to get their perk as well.
Do I lose the perk from the first companion? Do I slowly lose karma with them if not traveling with them?
Is there any negative side effect, or should I just run around as a two-faced chameleon gaining the perks from all of them I can?

Can you have two companions at the same time in Fallout 4?
You can only have one companion with you at a time, so when you meet another and decide to recruit them, you can send them back to any Settlements you've claimed in Fallout 4. Companions never die. They can get their ass kicked in battle and will kneel down and stop fighting if they take too much damage. Can you get every companion perk?
You can get all companion perks in one playthrough, but you need to get the perks for the faction companions (Danse, Deacon and X6-88) before siding against their faction, and Preston's too if you're going to side with the Nuka-World raiders. Are companion perks permanent?
The player should talk to their companion once the game indicates that that companion "idolizes you" to unlock the perk. Once the Sole Survivor has earned their perk, it's permanent; they can't lose it even if the affinity level with that companion changes or they have another companion follow them.Sources: Stack Exchange - This article follows the attribution requirements of Stack Exchange and is licensed under CC BY-SA 3.0.
