Fallout 4 - Freedom Trail Code

I followed the red brick road through out Boston and found several markers with number/letter pairs.

The trail ended inside the Old Chruch where I found the "pad lock":

Was I supposed to remember the code myself, or is it stored anywhere in the PipBoy? Or since I can't find the code in my PipBoy does this mean I didn't find all the 'stops' on the Tour?

Unlock by code-spelling RAILROAD using only letters from 'freedom' and 'trail' turning/spinning the ring counter-clockwise. "R" from Freedom, "A" from Trail, "I" from Trail, "L" from Trail, "R" from Trail, "O" in Freedom, "A" from Trail, and "D" from Freedom.

How do you open the Freedom Trail ring in Fallout 4?

Follow the Freedom TrailKeep Boston Common to your left and, a short way on, you'll spy a fountain and the Tour Bot nearby. If you haven't already, approach the Tour Bot and engage him in conversation. Ask the robot about the Freedom Trail and you'll be told to follow the red path through the city's streets.
